A leading Media company based in Central London is looking for a Head of Strategic Insight to join their vibrant team.

In this role you will be responsible for providing the commercial team with insights that support the strategic objectives of the business and increase revenues for the company’s media properties. You will be managing two Insight Analysts and contributing to various areas of the business by providing audience and market insight.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Be an integral member of the Audience and Insight team, not only managing two Strategic Insight Analysts but also working in collaboration with other team members to plan ahead, manage workload, manage stakeholder relationships and ensure the department delivers work to a high standard
  • Support pitches with high quality, tailored insights drawn from multiple sources into a clear sales story
  • Be present in key agencies, forging relationships with their insight teams to keep them front of mind as a resource for innovative insight work
  • Help proactively identify and pursue new revenue opportunities by the analysis and understanding of our print and digital audiences and of different advertiser industries
  • Use desktop research and any other insight tools to ensure the commercial department is kept aware of our key numbers and trends in relevant markets – with scope to introduce new tools to the business
  • Commission and manage your own research projects
  • Use campaign effectiveness research to prove success and create case studies that help to drive awareness of and engagement with our commercial capabilities

Skills Required:

  • Someone with media research experience (press and online experience would be very desirable) either within a media owner or advertising/media agency
  • A good knowledge of the media agency landscape and strong contacts within their insight teams
  • An understanding of the research opportunities that exist to help to identify and build those stories
  • Someone who thinks about the team as much as themselves and is collaborative and a good team player. Our Audience and Insight team has a good team spirit and we want this person to add to that
  • Management experience and the ability to get the best out of the team as a collective and individuals.
  • Experience of Nielsen/TGI/PAMCo/ComScore and other information sources and the proven ability to mine data for insights, as well as creating your own useful and usable reports
  • Ability to communicate information clearly and concisely, whether verbally or in written formats
  • Creative and commercial thinker; proactive in identifying and actioning projects that lead to commercial growth
  • Able to work independently to a deadline, often managing multiple projects simultaneously and demonstrating a strong work ethic
  • Must be good with numbers, have advanced Excel skills and be good (ideally great) on PowerPoint
  • Excellent at building relationships internally and externally with clients and agencies as needed
  • Someone who takes enjoyment from the kind of work outlined and from a buzzing and lively modern media environment.
