Information Compliance Officer

Our client, a prestigious University in London is looking for an enthusiastic Information Compliance Officer to join their growing team. On a fixed-term 12-month contract, you will be responsible in ensuring that all data, including research coming through the University is compliant with GDPR laws and the DPA.

Relevant Experience:

  • Substantial experience in an Information Assurance environment meeting legal compliance requirements around Data Protection legislation.
  • Experience of responding to freedom of information and subject access requests.
  • Practical experience of developing and delivering training programs, providing training and guidance about Data Protection to all levels of staff, in a variety of formats.
  • Experience of researching, writing and implementing policies, standards, procedures and best practice documentation.

Skills needed:

  • Skilled in interpreting complex legislation, supporting codes of practice and related documentation to assess how they affect business activities throughout the University and present them in a manner comprehensible to the target audience.
  • The ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing, particularly the ability to communicate complex technical subjects in plain English to staff at all levels in the University.
  • Able to work alone to investigate and identify practical solutions to complex information legislation and records management queries.
  • Able to prioritise own work in the context of the team to ensure that the competing demands of statutory, short-term, unpredictable deadlines and longer-term business interests are both met.
  • The ability to investigate data breach incidents.
  • Good IT skills, including an ability to contribute to and develop IT-based service provision and implement electronic storage and retrieval systems.
  • High-level interpersonal skills, including strong diplomatic, influencing and persuading skills.
