A New Journey – Simon Taylor & Boston Hale
I’ve been working in this industry for a long time. I quickly progressed to Director level with a great company, managed brilliant teams and learnt loads.
And then I decided to leave and join Graham to form Boston Hale.
Why on earth would I do that?
I had been on a journey, which in my eyes had come to an end. I needed to start a new journey.
So, here I am, we’ve opened for business in a top floor office in Holborn, and I’m loving it! And this is why:
1) I’m recruiting again. I’d almost forgotten why I started this job in the first place, and what a buzz I get out of it. Yes, it’s a great achievement to be a Director before the age of 35, but my time was taken up with managing, developing – without the recruiting. Now, there’s nothing wrong with that, I’ll still be doing it here, and I do enjoy it. But I’ll make sure that no matter how big the business may get in the future, I’ll keep on recruiting.
2) I’m motivated by making a difference, seeing the fruits of my labour and adding value. Of course, I was adding value before, but that value is so much greater, and the results so much more dramatic when you are starting out. This is what drives me; this is why I started in recruitment in the first place.
3) Working for myself. It’s everyone’s dream isn’t it? Larger organisations tend to have a confused agendas, a certain amount of non-productive manoeuvring. Boston Hale is not like that, nor will it be. We have recruited and will continue to recruit the same sort of people – open, honest, straightforward people who share the same values and work ethic.
So it all comes back to the journey. I think this will probably be the most exciting and rewarding journey yet, and I’m looking forward to seeing where we’ll end up.
