Building lasting relationships

Background: A solid relationship with the HR Manager led to a request for Boston Hale to help with a Country Purchasing Manager search. Cultural fit, personality and influencing skills were the main priority, backed up with strong technical procurement skills. The customer champions the creation of a flexible workforce and have a strong diversity & inclusion programme which influences their approach to hiring.

What we did:

We deployed our proven search methodology for this role, investing plenty of time during the initial briefing stages to ensure we had a tight brief based on sound understanding of the nuances of the position. The same process is conducted with candidates, ensuring their personal ambitions and aspirations will be met by the role on offer. The process covered the whole market, including:

  • Head office visit, meetings with HR and the Hiring Manager, appreciation of the working environment
  • Search based methodology
  • Competitor research
  • Interrogating our professional networks
  • Leveraging relationships and seeking recommendations
  • Online CV database search to cover active talent
  • Headhunting
  • Digital search tools

From our in-depth screening process, four candidates were identified and three put forward for interview. One candidate was a strong fit, but out of scope in terms of salary. A period of consulting with all parties led to a successful offer, combining flexible working hours with a competitive package, benefitting all customers. Our successful candidate remains happy in her role over a year later, and her responsibilities have expanded from an initial UK remit to include Northern Europe. Our relationship with the client team continues to thrive.
